Pebble Beach Golf Photography: How to Get Pro Photos of Your Round

You can spend months planning a round at Pebble Beach Golf Links® and still come home with nothing but a scorecard and a few blurry phone shots of the 7th green. Pebble Beach golf photography fixes that. A professional photographer — usually called a photo caddie — walks your round, shoots every swing and celebration, and delivers a finished gallery, while your group keeps phones in pockets and plays at normal pace. Here is how it works, which holes make the best photos, and when to book.

Why hire a golf photographer for Pebble Beach

A round at Pebble Beach is the centerpiece of most Monterey Peninsula golf trips and one of its highest single costs, since advance tee times usually require a 2–3 night resort stay. If you are spending that, the round deserves better than whoever in the group volunteers to hold the phone.

The holes along Stillwater Cove and Carmel Bay are among the most photographed in golf. What is missing from most of those photos is you. A dedicated photographer catches what phones cannot: the top of your backswing with the Pacific behind it, the walk up 18, the reaction when a long putt drops. The groups that book most often are buddy trips, father-and-son rounds, milestone birthdays and retirements, and corporate outings that want images to share with clients.

How a Pebble Beach photo caddie works

The photographer meets your group at the first tee and stays a step ahead all round, set up before you reach your ball. Nobody poses between shots, and nobody waits on the group behind. Tee Time Photos, a Monterey-based Pebble Beach golf photographer, offers custom packages at Pebble Beach Golf Links®

Both include the course spectator fee and a professionally curated online gallery. Tee Time Photos is also authorized to shoot at Spyglass Hill® Golf Course, The Links at Spanish Bay® (reopening April 17, 2027) and other courses listed in its Monterey golf photography FAQ.

The best photo spots at Pebble Beach Golf Links®

Every hole has a picture in it, but four stretches produce the images groups print and frame:

  • Hole 7 — the short downhill par 3 to a green ringed by ocean. This is the group shot of the round.

  • Holes 8 through 10 — tee and approach shots along the clifftops above Carmel Bay, with open water behind the swing.

  • Hole 17 — the long par 3 with Carmel Bay right behind the green.

  • Hole 18 — the walk along the seawall toward The Lodge at Pebble Beach™ and the handshake on the final green.

Booking nine holes? The front nine carries the clifftop run from 6 through 9; the back nine gives you 10 and the 17–18 finish. Browse recent Pebble Beach galleries to see what each side produces.

When to play for the best light

The weather patterns that shape your tee time shape your photos too:

  • Summer fog — from May through August, the coastal marine layer usually clears between 9 and 10am. A 9:30am or later tee time gives you clear skies and ocean backdrops from the first hole.

  • Spring and fall — March–May and September–November bring the lightest fog of the year, and October is often the clearest month on the peninsula.

  • Overcast days — soft, even light flatters faces and swings. A good golf photographer works with the marine layer, not against it.

What to wear for golf photos

  • Solid, saturated colors such as navy, red or white stand out against green fairways and blue water. Small, busy patterns blur at a distance.

  • Coordinate without matching. A shared color family reads well in group shots; identical outfits rarely do.

  • Plan for wind. A clean quarter-zip or vest photographs better than a rain shell, and the coast can turn cool by the back nine.

  • Lift the hat brim for a couple of portraits. Hat brims and sunglasses hide faces in the photos you will care about most.

Booking a golf photographer for your trip

Lock in your tee time first. Pebble Beach Golf Links® tee times typically need to be secured 6–12 months out alongside a resort stay, and that date drives everything else.

Once your round is confirmed, book a photo caddie for your round. Share your tee time, group size and any moments worth planning around — a birthday, a retirement, a first trip together. Corporate groups with multiple foursomes should reach out early so coverage can be planned across the tee sheet.

If 2027 is your Pebble Beach year, plan around the US Open, which returns to Pebble Beach Golf Links® June 17–20, 2027. Our 2027 US Open trip guide covers how the championship affects access.

Yes, but on-course photographers must be authorized and pay the course's spectator fee. Tee Time Photos is authorized at Pebble Beach Golf Links®, and the fee is included in its packages.

How many photos will we get?

A nine-hole session delivers at least 100 photos and a full 18 at least 200, shared through a curated online gallery.
